This is one of our favourite stones! We cannot stop waxing eloquent about is glittering beauty. With its gold-hued colour it can be mistakenly thought to be a gold nugget hence its nickname is ‘Fool’s Gold.’ But Pyrite’s biggest contribution to mankind was fire!
Sparks are created when Pyrite is struck against metal or a hard surface and this was one of the earliest methods humans discovered to create a flame. In fact, Pyrite’s name comes from the Greek phrase, ‘pyrite lithos,’ which means ‘stone which strikes fire.’
Its striking cuboid-crystal formation in which it is found lends itself to making a stunning statement on its own! This 'must-have' gold-hued gemstone is simply brilliant and beautiful. Sparkling as light bounces of its myriad facets, creating golden rays that seem to have endless energy.
