Iolite gets its name from the Greek word “ios” meaning violet in its rough form it is inky-blue and almost black. According to Norse mythology, Viking sailors used Iolite slices as polarizers to look at the sun on cloudy days and navigate their way to unconquered shores. It was only in the 18thcentury that it became popular among jewellery makers in Europe. Today the best Iolite comes from Myanmar and Sri Lanka and we find it charming that the blue disguised-as-black stone sits pretty on the shine of sterling silver!
This lovely pendant crowned by three natural white topaz gemstones makes the perfect neckwear with a flowing evening gown or a white saree.
Every piece of Raw Carat jewellery celebrates minimalist forms, raw and textured gemstones and a joyous feeling for the wearer. Above all, they are inspired by what we think every woman wants in her life and on her body; natural, timeless, functional and beautiful to look at.
